The Gear Western Country Half Marathon and Borton Volvo 5k is a small town event with a big time feel. Our course offers you a taste of Minnesota in the fall; quiet country roads, rolling hills, lakes, autumn colors and crushed limestone trails.

After crossing the finish line, stick around for a Western-themed celebration. Enjoy lively music, warm post-race refreshments, and a spirited awards ceremony to honor every participant. It’s a chance to relax, cheer each other on, and soak in the festive atmosphere.

In years past, you’ve run the race and earned a cozy crew neck sweatshirt—This year we lowered the entry fee to make the race more accessible, and still bringing the sweatshirt as optional! You can lasso up that same beloved sweatshirt for a few extra bucks!

For all finishers, we're tipping our hats to you with a rugged little prize perfect for the campfire: A double-walled insulated mug with a carabiner handle—great for clipping to your runnin’shirt, hangin’ on the car door, or sippin’ something strong under the stars.

Gear Western is built for families and friends alike. Choose from the long or short course, and feel free to bring along dogs on a leash or strollers. Stay warm inside the store before the race, and maybe treat yourself to a fresh pair of shoes afterward!
