Pre-Birkie, Mora Vasaloppet, & North End Classic Wax Recommendations

We have been busy testing the new fluor free waxes this early winter, if you are looking for a recommendation for this weekend’s races, see below.  We have tested waxes from Swix, Rex, Vauhti, Rode, and Start, among others, below are some recommendations that will make your skis fast in these fluor-free times.

Pre-Birkie - Hayward, WI -Saturday, Feb. 11th, 2023

Weather:

Friday - Sunny, with a high near 25. Wind chill values as low as 6. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon.

Friday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 14. South southwest wind 5 to 15 mph.

Saturday - Mostly sunny, with a high near 38. South southwest wind 10 to 15 mph.

Saturday Night - Partly cloudy, with a low around 19. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph.

Sunday - Partly sunny, with a high near 38. West northwest wind around 5 mph.

Recommendation :

Base – Swix Marathon, Rode Endurance

Paraffin – Swix TSP6, Rode R30

Liquid – Swix TS7, Rode RL Med

Kick – Rex Base Klister ironed thin and covered with Swix VP45 or Rode B15

Structure – PL3 stone grind with no additional hand structure

Vasaloppet USA - Mora, MN -Saturday, Feb. 11th & Sunday, Feb. 12th, 2023

Saturday Night - Partly cloudy, with a low around 20. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph.

Sunday - Partly sunny, with a high near 39. West southwest wind around 5 mph.
