Gear West was started in a 500 square foot building and moved / evolved thru five locations in Long Lake over the past 27+ years. We created Gear West from our passion for skiing and triathlons. Since that time (BC- before computers) we have grown into one of Minnesota's premier independently owned specialty sports businesses. All of the Gear West staff either race, train, coach or tour and love the sports we represent. Our combined knowledge in these sports could exceed all of Amazon’s service people (if they had any).
Our 15000 sq. foot main store houses Gear West Cross-Country Ski and Run and Gear West Bike and Tri. Our customers – Triathlon and Nordic – know us far and wide for the selection we offer and the service we provide. Since we are a family owned, independent store, we have the flexibility to be nimble and offer you the latest in what is cool for the sports you love, AND we have the knowledgeable staff. Those who work at Gear West know and love what they do and will provide you with the best fit in the equipment you need. Our 6000-foot sister building (just 200 feet west thru the evergreen trees) is Gear West Alpine & Snowboard. There you will find alpine skis and boards and all the waxes, tools and accessories to support a great experience skiing. We tune, fix and adjust all skis and boards. Lastly, the store is super cool. We offer you a unique mix of casual and ski clothing, from warm base layers, hip looking boots to Patagonia, Helly Hansen, ArcTeryx outwear and more.
We have the product! And it is selected from the manufacture to fit you, our customer, needs. At GW you will find the largest selection of cross country skis and equipment in the United States, 2100 models of run, walk, trail and track shoes and the latest in bikes from kids, to comfort to race. With apparel and accessories from over thirty manufacturers you have choice and the convenience to try things on and make sure it fits and is the quality you are looking for. WE finish up with FIT. The bikes, the skis and the run shoes are FIT to your abilities, your pocket book and the way you want to use it.
