Ski de She & Noque Wax Recommendation

We have been busy testing the new fluor free waxes this early winter, if you are looking for a recommendation for this weekend’s races, see below.  We have tested waxes from Swix, Rex, Vauhti, Rode, and Start, among others, below are some recommendations that will make your skis fast in these fluor-free times.

 

Ski de She - Cable, WI—Saturday, January 29th, 2023

 

Weather-

Friday - Snow, mainly before 9am. High near 24. Breezy, with a south wind around 15 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

Friday Night - Mostly cloudy, with a low around -4. Breezy, with a west wind 5 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Saturday - Mostly cloudy, with a high near 10. Northwest wind around 5 mph.

Recommendations-

Paraffin – Swix Marathon, Start SG Green (base layer can be hardened with Toko XCold Powder)

Kick – Toko Green Base Binder ironed in.  Race layers to try are Swix V30, V40, Rode Green

Structure – LZ0 or LC0 with no additional hand structure

 

Noque - Marquette, MI—Saturday, January 29th, 2023

 

Weather –

Friday - Snow, mainly before 1pm, then a chance of snow showers after 1pm. Patchy blowing snow between 9am and noon. High near 23. Wind chill values between -5 and 5. Breezy, with a south wind 15 to 20 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 40 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of around an inch possible.

Friday Night - A 40 percent chance of snow showers, mainly before 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 6. Wind chill values between -5 and 5. Northwest wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

Saturday - A 20 percent chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 13. Northwest wind around 5 mph

Recommendation-

Baselayer – Swix Marathon, Start SG Green

Topcoat – Swix TSP5 Powder

Kick – Toko Base Binder Green ironed in.  Race layers to try are VP30, VP40, Rode Multigrade Blue

Structure – LZ0 or LC0 stonegrind with no additional hand structure
