| Why Hotbox? Hotboxes are used to saturate your ski bases with wax. Heat from the hotbox (between 50-55c) opens up the ski base increasing wax penetration. Because heat is applied for an extended period of time (3+hours), skis absorb more wax than can be ironed. Why do you need lots of wax in your ski base? Wax saturation protects the base from oxidizing and reduces wax wear. You can ski longer without rewaxing. |
