Wheels are a key component of the rollerskis’ performance and on-snow feel. Swenor training wheels use rubber compounds uniquely developed to replicate on-snow feel and on-snow speeds while adding durability and reducing road vibrations. Swenor racing wheels use polyurethane compounds for pure speed. Swenor classic wheels are available in various sizes and degrees of hardness that allow each skier to find the perfect wheels. Swenor skate wheels come in Adult and Junior sizes and various speed ranges.
Wheel size (diameter and breadth) and different rubber compounds all combine to provide various levels of speed, stability, durability, vibration absorption, wet and dry grip, and weight. But, each wheel has advantages and disadvantages based on what the skier is looking for. Softer rubber compounds more closely replicate the speed and grip of snow, but tend to wear more easily. Larger diameter wheels roll over harsh road surfaces or loose gravel easier but are heavier and lift the skier higher, decreasing stability. Wider wheels increase stability, but add weight.
Just as warm snow is faster than cold snow, Swenor rollerski wheels are faster at warmer temperatures. A harder wheel deforms less so it has lower rolling resistance and is therefore faster. The #1 hardness wheels are the hardest and fastest wheels, the #3 hardness are the softest and slowest wheels. #2 and #3 wheel speeds are most popular in both skate and classic. The #2 replicates snow speed when temperatures are colder than 77F(25C) and #3 when temps are above 77F.
