The Mizuno Wave Universe 4 has an extremely low midsole profileand is built close to the ground with only a 5 mm heel to toe differential. But unlike some of the barefoot or minimalist shoes, the Wave Universe has just enough cushioning to protect the foot from the harsh realities of the road.
The growing trend toward minimalist/natural running shoes has thrust the Mizuno Wave Universe directly into the spotlight. For years, Mizuno has pioneered this lightweight category and the Wave Universe 4 at 3.8 ounces is the lightest road-racing shoe on the market—even lighter than the so-called barefoot shoes.
