Author: Josh Doebbert (Gear West) Thanks for the review, Sam. I haven't heard of anyone else losing skintec plates, but it's certainly possible. I suspect what may have happened is that when you stopped, the slush was able to more thoroughly penetrate the mohair and then freeze around the hairs, thus freezing the plate to the ground. Not a problem when moving, but standing in place in such moist conditions could definitely make this an issue. We'll definitely keep it in mind and pass the word along to Atomic.
Steve - we should be able to get ahold of replacement skintec plates. We haven't had to order any yet, so I don't know specifics, but if you need them call us at 877-473-GEAR and we'll try to get a pair from atomic for you.
Author: steve lynn I have only skied once on them and love them.I would like to know how to order replacement
Skintec strips and tool.
Author: Sam Skied these for the first time in 40F with slushy conditions. First half hour were great. Stopped to talk with frineds and then started skiing again. Noticed something wrong with the skis and looked at the base and noticed one of the plates had come unattached from the magnets at the spot where had been talking. Anyone else have this problem. Skied for another hour after attaching them and no problem.
