Gear West
We started Gear West 20 years ago because of our passion for cross country skiing. Since then, through that same passion and the support of our loyal customers we have grown into one of Minnesota's premier independently owned specialty sports businesses. Our 15000 square foot main store, Gear West Cross Country Ski and Run, offers the largest selection of cross country skis and equipment in the United States as well as running shoes, apparel, and accessories from more than thrity manufacturers. Our second location, Gear West Adrenaline, carries active casual clothing, alpine and snowboarding equipment, soccer and lacrosse gear, and skateboards. We previously carried triathlon equipment and bicycles, but this proved to be so successful that it broke off to become its own business. Each of these departments was born from our passion for sport and for ensuring the highest quality service we can possibly provide to all who walk in our doors.
Our employees are constantly learning about the latest developments in our sports and testing new equipment. This testing occurs both on the snow (or road, or field...) and using more analytical methods to ensure that they are the most knowledgable and best resources available for you to tap into. We pride ourselves on giving you the best fit humanly possible for your body, style, and ambitions, and the kind of service that's so good you tell your friends about it. After all, we've built our success on word of mouth, and we believe that it is by far the best form of advertising.
There is one more thing we hold as a core value: community. Gear West exists and continues to grow only due to the phenomenal support and patronage of several comparatively small communities. We feel it is our responsibility to give back to these communities by supporting and helping promote several local teams, clubs, fundraisers, and events, including the American Birkebeiner Foundation, the Loppet Foundation, the Mora Vasaloppet, the Get in Gear 10k, XC United, and more.
